Create a showcase

Library staff can use saved lists and searches to create showcases that appear in Vega Discover.

You must be assigned the Showcase Admin role to publish showcases. For more information, see Add staff and assign access levels.

Unpublished showcases are labeled as draft, and they aren't visible to patrons in Vega. When published, showcases that you create from saved lists appear on the Resource page of every title in the showcase. Showcases that you create from saved searches don't appear on the Resource page.

Important

  • Components that you schedule to publish the same day or the next day might take up to six hours to appear because the scheduled publishing process runs every six hours.
  1. In Vega Discover, go to My Bookshelf, and select the Bookmarks tab.
  2. Do one of the following:
  • On the list that you want to use to create a showcase, select Options The Options icon., and then select Create Showcase.
  • Select a list name to open the list, and then select Create Showcase.
  1. (Optional) Enter a display name for the showcase.
  2. Under Publish manually or schedule for later, do one of the following:

    Publish immediately
    • Leave the Start date field empty.
    Schedule the publication
    • Select a start date.
  3. (Optional) Select an end date.

    4. If you don’t select an end date, the showcase never expires.

  4. Under Delete this showcase when the end date is reached, if you want the system to automatically delete the showcase when it expires, select Yes.
  5. Select a sort order:
  • Newest first
  • Oldest first
  • Title ascending (A to Z)
  • Title descending (Z to A)
  1. Select where you want the showcase to appear.

    2. Currently, the only available option is Record pages. This means the showcase appears on the Resource page for any title in the showcase.

  2. (Optional) If you want to display the nickname of the person who created the showcase, select the Created by checkbox under Display showcase creator.

    3. This feature is selected by default. For information on creating nicknames, see View or edit your profile in the Vega Discover help.

  3. Select from the options for type, age, and format of the works.

    4. These selections provide classification information that will be used for future personalization features.

  4. Select Save.

  2. On the saved search that you want to use to create a showcase, select Options The Options icon., and then select Create Showcase.

  1. In Vega Discover, go to My Bookshelf, and select the Showcases tab.
  2. Select the Create a Showcase from an ILS list button in the upper-right corner of the view.
    The options for creating a showcase are displayed.
  3. Provide the required information based on the ILS you're using.

    Note: Vega only imports the first 1000 bibliographic records from the selected ILS list.
    4. If you're using Do this
    Sierra
    • Select an ILS List from which you want to create a showcase.
      Start typing in the field to display matching results.
    Polaris
    • Enter the Polaris Record Set ID.
  4. Provide the showcase display name in the designated field.
  5. (Optional) If you want to display the nickname of the person who created the showcase, select the Created by checkbox under Display showcase creator.

  6. Select from the options for type, age, and format of the works.

  7. Select Save.
  8. Publish the showcase when it's ready for use.
