Formatting Z39.50 Search URLs
Links for Z39.50 searches require a specific format. This format varies depending on which version of Sierra your library uses.
Sierra 6.3 and Later
Links for 39.50 searches require the following format:
a href="https://[server]/[command link]/"
URL Element | Description |
---|---|
[server] | The IP address for your Sierra server. |
[command link] | The appropriate Z39.50 command links. For details, see the descriptions of the /z39 and /z39m command links. |
Do not specify port 211 in the URL. This was required in previous releases but will cause the links to fail in Sierra 6.3 and later due to security headers.
For example:
<A HREF="https://[server]/z39/Melvyl/CAT">Univ of Calif Melvyl Full Catalog</A>
<A HREF="https://[server]/z39m/OCLC2:ArticleFirst,
OCLC2:ERIC,OCLC2:ReadersGuideAbstracts,OCLC2:WilsonBusinessAbstracts/">
