Counting Internal Use in Mobile Worklists

This feature is available in Sierra 5.4 and later. To count in-house use in Mobile Worklists, you must be assigned permission 252 (Circa Count Inhouse Use). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

The Count Use feature in Mobile Worklists enables you to count in-house item use for library materials that do not circulate. When you count usage, the system increments the Internal Use fixed-length field in the item record, which is used in the Circ Activity report.

In the Mobile Worklists app, you can view internal use on the Item Detail screen and set search rules for internal use with Item Matcher.

To count internal use in Mobile Worklists:

  1. (Optional) In the settings, enable continuous scanning.
  2. On the Home screen, tap Count Use.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Scan the item's barcode. If your camera has a light, you can toggle it on and off by tapping the lightbulb icon. This feature can help you scan barcodes in dark conditions.
    • Tap the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen, enter the item's barcode, and tap Count Use.
    • Scan the RFID tag by tapping RFID in the upper-right corner. When instructed to do so, hold your device close to the item.

A confirmation message appears that shows the title, author, call number, barcode, updated internal use count, and the item status.

  1. If you have continuous scanning enabled, scan additional items.
  2. When you are finished scanning items, tap Done to return to the Home screen.
