Possible Patron Request Denial Messages
The system denies requests and displays an appropriate denial message under the following circumstances. Note that the messages listed below cannot be changed by the library. See Specify Request Messages for a list of messages the library can set.
- No requestable items.
- There are multiple items attached to the bibliographic record and none of these items is requestable. Since there may be different reasons why each item is not requestable, the system displays a generic message.
- Sorry, circulation policy does not allow your request.
- The Hold Level element of the REQUEST Web option is set to "item" for the WebPAC (see Configuring the System for Patron or System to Choose Item), but the applicable loan rule blocks the patron from requesting the chosen item; or the REQUEST Web option is set for the system to choose the copy, but the patron cannot request any of the attached items due to the applicable loan rule(s).
- Sorry, request cannot be accepted. Copy is available.
- The library has specified that the system deny requests if there are any available copies. See Configuring the System for Patron or System to Choose Item.
- Sorry, request cannot be accepted. No requestable copy is available
- The Hold Level element of the REQUEST Web option is set to "item" (see Configuring the System for Patron or System to Choose Item), but the patron cannot request the chosen item because it fails one or more rules in the request rule file; or REQUEST option is set for the system to choose the copy, but all of the attached items fail one or more rules in the request rule file.
- Sorry, request cannot be accepted. <Patron library> copy is available.
- The library has specified that the system deny requests if there are any locally available copies. See Configuring the System for Patron or System to Choose Item
- There is a problem with your library record. Please see a librarian.
- (Sierra 5.3 and earlier) The patron's record has a patron block. For example, the patron's registration has expired, the patron has already placed the maximum number of holds, or the patron has a manual block. See the Patron Blocks Table for more information on patron blocks.
- In Sierra 5.4 and later, the system lists the individual reason(s) for patron blocks instead of this message.
- Your account has expired
- (Sierra 5.4 and later) The patron's account has expired. See the Patron Exp. Date element in the Patron Blocks Table.
- You have exceeded the maximum holds allowed
- (Sierra 5.4 and later) The patron has exceeded the maximum number of outstanding holds allowed. See the Max Holds element in the Patron Blocks Table.
- You have long overdue items
- (Sierra 5.4 and later) The patron has reached the highest level of overdue notice allowed and is now blocked. See the Highest Level Odues element in the Patron Blocks Table.
- You have reached the limit on overdue points. Your account is blocked until mm-dd-yyyy.
- (Sierra 5.4 and later) The patron has accrued the maximum number of overdue penalty points allowed and is blocked until the specified date. See the Highest # Overdue Points and Block Days elements in the Patron Blocks Table.
- Your outstanding balance exceeds the limit allowed
- (Sierra 5.4 and later) The patron has exceeded the maximum amount of fines and charges allowed and is now blocked. See the Max Owed element in the Patron Blocks Table.
