Printing Paging Slips for Items with Specific Statuses

The Item Paging for Specific Item Statuses feature enables you to specify the item statuses for which the system queues a paging slip for printing when an item with one of the specified statuses in the STATUS fixed-length field of the item record is requested by patrons via the WebPAC.

For example, if you request that Innovative enable the Item Paging for Specific Item Statuses feature for item statuses '-' (AVAILABLE), 'm' (MISSING), and 't' (IN TRANSIT) and a patron uses the WebPAC to request an item that has a status of 'm' (MISSING), the system pages that item, queuing a paging slip for printing, which can enable your staff to prioritize the retrieval of missing items.

To enable the Item Paging for Specific Item Statuses feature:

  1. Contact Innovative and specify the item statuses for which the system queues paging slips for printing when a corresponding item is requested. By default, the status '-' (AVAILABLE) is enabled and must remain enabled so the system can continue to page available items.
  2. Set the REQUEST Web option to enable patrons to place item-level holds via the WebPAC.
  3. In addition, ensure that your library's request rule file does not contain any rules that block requests for material with the item statuses you are enabling for paging. To modify the request rule file, contact Innovative.
