Using the WAM Blocks Table
The WAM Blocks table allows you to block patrons with:
- Expired records.
- Incurred fees and fines that match or exceed the maximum permitted money owed.
- The maximum number of overdue points.
- Manual blocks on their records.
To edit the WAM Blocks table, choose Admin | Parameters | Web Access Management | WAM Blocks Table.
Each entry in the WAM Blocks table includes the following:
Patron Type
This entry defines the patron type (P TYPE) to apply to the specified WAM Block rules. This entry is a list of fixed-length field values for the P TYPE (for example, "1, 3, 25" to apply the rule to P TYPEs "1", "3", and "25"). To apply the WAM Blocks rule to all patron types, enter "999" (Sierra 3.4 and earlier) or "9999" (Sierra 4.0 and later).
Ranges of Field Values
This setting does not accept ranges for patron type values. For example, 1-25 is an invalid value.
Patron Agency
This entry defines the agency to apply to the specified WAM Block rules. This value is only valid if your library has the Consortium Management Extensions product. This entry accepts a range of fixed-length field values for the PAT AGENCY (for example, "5-60" to apply the rule to PAT AGENCY fields 5 through 60).
Patron Exp. Date
This entry defines whether to apply the patron record expiration date to the specified WAM Block rules.
Max Owed
This entry defines the maximum amount of fees and fines owed by the patron to apply to the specified WAM Block rules.
Highest # Overdue
This entry specifies whether to apply the threshold of overdue demerits incurred by the patron to the specified WAM Block rules.
