Viewing, Editing, and Deleting Files in Web Master

In the Web Master function, you can view, edit, and delete files in directories defined by the processes listed in the Admin App. When you have finished with your files, you can replace your live directory with your staging directory.

Web Options

You cannot access Web Options in the Web Master function. To edit WebPAC options, use the Web Options function.

Viewing Files

You can view any file accessible through Web Master by doing the following:

  1. Select the directory you want to view from the Select Process drop-down list.
  2. Select the file in the Web Master file list and choose View.
  3. You can print the contents of a file by choosing Print.
  4. Choose Close to close the file.

Editing Files

You can edit text files by completing the following steps:

File Extensions

The Web Master function identifies text files based on the file extension (for example, .html, .xml, .conf).

  1. Select the directory you want to view from the Select Process drop-down list.
  2. Select the file in the Web Master file list and choose Edit.
  3. Make your changes. Choose Undo to undo a change or Redo to re-implement a change.
  4. You can print the contents of a file at any point by choosing Print.
  5. When you are done with your changes, choose Save.
  6. Choose Close to close the file.

Editing the Search Alert Options File

You can edit the Search Alert Options (psearchd.conf) file in the Web Master function by completing the following steps:

  1. Select the Live Web Server Configuration - live (liveconfig) directory from the Select Process drop-down list.
  2. Select Tools | Edit ALERT Options or click the Edit P button. Note that these options only appear if you have selected the live directory from the Select Process drop-down list.
  3. Make your changes. Choose Undo to undo a change or Redo to re-implement a change.
  4. You can print the contents of a file at any point by choosing Print.
  5. When you are done with your changes, choose Save.
  6. Choose Close to close the file.

Deleting Files

To manage the file list in Web Master, you can delete any of the files in the list by doing the following:

  1. Select the file in the Web Master file list and choose Delete.

    You can choose multiple files by using the Ctrl and Shift keys.
  2. Choose OK in the confirmation dialog.

Replace Live Files with Staging Files

After you have edited, tested, and approved the contents of your staging/screens directory, you can overwrite your live/screens WebPAC with the staging/screens directory.

The system overwrites any files (including the Web options file) in the live/screens directory that have the same name as files in the staging/screens directory. The system does not overwrite files in the live/screens directory that do not have names matching those of files in the staging/screens directory.

Backing Up Live/Screens

Before overwriting the live WebPAC, verify that you have a complete, functional WebPAC in the staging/screens directory and have backed up your live/screens directory.

To replace your Live Web files with your Staging Web files, click the Replace icon.

  1. Select the live/screens directory from the drop-down list.
  2. Click the Replace icon.
