Viewing and Editing Load Tables
You can view or edit a load table using either the guided editor or the source editor. See An Introduction to the Load Table Editors for more information about the difference between these editors.
To view or edit a load table:
- Select Load Tables from the Function list.
- Select the load table you want to edit, and click either View or Edit on the toolbar. Sierra displays the load table in the editor you last used.
- If you chose to edit the load table, you can do the following:
The process of editing a line differs depending on which editor you are using. In the source editor, you can click anywhere in a line to add or delete text. Sierra does not validate your input.
In the guided editor, how you edit a line depends on the type of line. You can edit comments and global loading instructions directly from the load table display. For MARC load lines and command lines, you must click the triangle button on the right side of the screen to open the editor. See the Guided Editor section for more information.
The process of adding a new line differs depending on whether you are using the guided editor or the source editor.
To add a line using the guided editor:
- Locate the section of the load table where you want to add the new line. You can add a line before or after an existing line.
- On an existing line, click the plus icon (+) located on the right side of the screen. The Insert line dialog appears.
- Select the following parameters:
- In the first dropdown list, select the type of line you want to add.
- In the second dropdown list, select whether you want to add the new line before or after the current line.
- Click OK. Sierra adds the line and returns you to the guided editor.
To add a line using the source editor:
-
Click the plus icon (+) next to a line. Sierra adds a blank line under the current one.
To delete a line:
- Locate the line you want to delete, and select the delete icon (X) on the right side of screen. Sierra prompts you to confirm the deletion.
- Click Yes to delete the line or No to cancel the deletion.
If you do not want Sierra to process a line in the load table but want to keep it for reference, you can comment it out. You can do this from the source editor only.
To comment out a line:
- If you are using the guided editor, select Edit | Use source editor.
- Locate the line you want to comment out.
- Insert a number sign (#) as the first character of the line.
- If you made changes to the load table, click Save on the toolbar.
- Click Close on the toolbar to return to the list of load tables.
