Creating New Load Tables

Creating load tables in the Load Tables function is available in Sierra 6.3 and later.

To create a load table in the Load Tables function, you must be assigned permission 711 (Edit Load Tables). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

To create a new load table, you can save a copy of an existing load table using a different file extension. Before you start this process, review your existing load tables and find the one that's most similar to the one you want to create.

To create a new load table:

  1. Select Load Tables from the Function list.
  2. Select the existing load table you want to use as the source for the new load table, and click Edit on the toolbar. Sierra displays the source load table.

Make sure to save changes you made to the source load table before you continue. Sierra includes unsaved changes in the new load table, but those changes are not saved to the source load table during this process.

  1. In the upper-left corner, select File | Save as. Sierra opens the Save Load Table As... dialog.
  2. Enter the file extension for the new load table.

You do not need to enter a period before the file extension. If you do, the resulting file appears with two periods (for example, "m2btab..bib").

  1. Click Save. Sierra does one of the following:
    • If you entered a file extension that's already in use, Sierra asks if you want to overwrite the existing load table. You can:
      • Click Yes to overwrite the load table. Sierra overwrites the load table and displays the new load table.
      • Click No to cancel the creation of the new load table and return to the source load table.
    • If you entered a file extension that's not in use, Sierra creates the new load table and switches you to it.
