Blocking Held Items at Self-Checkout
By default, self-checkout stations (checkout stations using Express Lane or the SIP2 Circulation Interface) block the checkout of items that have an item-level hold for another patron. Self-checkout stations also automatically block the checkout of items with STATUS '!' (ON HOLDSHELF), unless the patron is at the top of the hold queue for that item.
You can request that this self-checkout functionality be modified or disabled. The Block Held Items at Self-Checkout feature enables self-checkout stations to block the checkout of:
- Items with item-level holds and INN-Reach requests only (the default).
- Items with title-level and volume-level holds only.
- Items with any type of hold (item, volume, or title) or INN-Reach request.
- No held items. If you request this option, your library's self-checkout stations do not block checkouts based on holds or INN-Reach requests.
To modify the type of held items blocked for checkout at your library's self-checkout stations, contact Innovative and request one of the options listed above for the Block Held Items at Self-Checkout feature.
If you want to allow self-checkout of items with INN-Reach requests, you might also need to customize the item statuses available for self-checkout.
