Viewing the Recent Circulation History of an Item

To view patron records, you must be assigned permission 161 (View patron records). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

If the Recent Circulation History feature is enabled, you can view an item's most recent circulation activity. The Circulation History list includes the most recent patron record numbers to which the item was checked out, as well as the checkout and checkin dates. You can view the patron records from this list.

The Circulation History list does not include INN-Reach or ILL circulation.

Viewing the Circulation History Table

To view the Circulation History table for an item:

  1. Retrieve the item record.
  2. Choose Edit | Patron View Actions | View circulation history. The system displays the Circulation History table.

The Circulation History table displays the following information:

Patron Number
The list of patron record numbers for which the item was checked out and in, starting with the most recent.
Checkout Date
The date and time the item was checked out by each patron.
Checkin Date
The date and time the item was checked in.

The system creates an entry in the Circulation History table each time a patron checks in an item. If an item is checked out and checked in multiple times for the same patron, the Circulation History table displays a separate entry for each checkin.

Enabling the Recent Circulation History Feature

To have the Recent Circulation History feature enabled, your library's director or Innovative coordinator must contact Innovative.

After Innovative enables the Recent Circulation History feature, the system saves checkout and checkin data for the last five item records. The system does not save data on checkouts or checkins made before the feature is enabled, even if that data exists in the LPATRON and/or LCHKIN fields at the time the feature is enabled.

The Recent Circulation History feature cannot be enabled for a subset of users. Once it has been enabled, the system records all checkin transactions to the Circulation History table.

If you decide to disable the Recent Circulation History feature after enabling it, Innovative can remove archived data from the Circulation History table.
