Transferring an INN-Reach Hold at the Owning Site
At the owning site, you can transfer an INN-Reach hold from one item to another using the standard circulation process for transferring holds from one queue to another. If your Local Server operates under the INN-Reach Agency model, you can only transfer a hold to an item that belongs to your agency.
When you transfer an INN-Reach hold, the system at the owning site:
- Modifies the original item record as follows:
- Removes the virtual patron record associated with the item record.
- Removes the hold from the item's hold queue.
- Removes the INN-Reach circulation message from the item record.
- Updates the item's STATUS to either '-' (AVAILABLE) or 'm' (MISSING) as specified during the transfer.
- Modifies the new item record as follows:
- Creates a virtual patron record associated with the new item.
- Adds the hold to the item's hold queue.
- Adds an INN-Reach circulation message to the item record.
- Updates that item's STATUS to '&' (REQUESTED).
- Sends a circulation message to the patron site. At the patron site, the circulation message updates the virtual item record to reflect the new item information.
