Chasing ARTEmail Acquisition Requests

If ARTEmail has not responded to an acquisition request for an item, you can send a follow-up message. To indicate that the original request was already sent, you must add the code CHASER to the request's transaction line. This process is commonly referred to as "chasing a request."

To chase an ARTEmail acquisition request:

  1. Choose Pending Requests from the Function list.
  2. Select a request. ILL displays the Edit Request window.
  3. Choose Options | Query Lender.
  4. Enter your library's customer code and password.

If the Automatic ARTEmail Login feature is enabled, ILL automatically enters your library's customer code and password. For more information, contact Innovative.

  1. Choose Next.
  2. Specify the following information:
    Search Type
Enter the code CHASER to ask ARTEmail to chase this request. Initially, this field displays the search type and instructions you entered when you acquired the request. (If you include the COPYRT code, ILL inserts an RZ code between the TX code and the transaction number in the transaction line.)
    Retain RZ Code
Choose the yes radio button to include the RZ code in the request information. (ILL offers this option only if the original search instructions included the COPYRT code.)
    Enter Message
    Enter text as appropriate.
Voucher Number

The request information display includes the Voucher Number element, which contains the voucher number you entered when you acquired this request. You cannot edit this data.

  1. Choose Next. ILL displays the request information.
  2. Choose Previous to modify the information you previously entered, as needed.
  3. Choose Finish to use the information you entered. The system:
    • Appends a message for the request to the ARTEmail file.
    • Displays a confirmation dialog.
  4. Choose Close to exit the dialog.
  5. Send the chase request to ARTEmail either automatically by ending the current session or manually by choosing Admin | Send ARTEmail Requests.
