Cancelling BLDSS Requests
After the British Library matches your request with an item in its database, ILL places the request in both the pending requests file and in the BLDSS Requests table. You can cancel BLDSS requests from either location, and ILL takes the following actions.
- pending requests file - When you cancel a request from the pending requests file, ILL moves the request to the cancelled requests file. See Cancelling Pending ILL Requests for information on using this method.
- BLDSS Requests table - When you cancel a request from the BLDSS Requests table, ILL removes the request from this table, but retains it in the pending requests file. This allows staff members to acquire the item again using either the same or a different acquisition method.
To cancel a request from the BLDSS Requests table:
- Select BLDSS Requests from the Function list.
- Select a request from the table, and click Cancel on the toolbar.
ILL attempts to cancel the request and does one of the following.
- If successful, ILL displays a confirmation message and removes the entry from the BLDSS table.
- If not successful, ILL displays a warning message. The request remains in the BLDSS table.
You can cancel BLDSS requests that are marked as "Matched". Once an order has been placed for an item, ILL might not allow you to cancel the request.
- Click OK to close the dialog.
