Generating High-Demand Holds Reports

To use the High-Demand Holds function, you must be assigned permission 317 (High-Demand Holds Report). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

The High-Demand Holds feature enables you to track the titles on which patrons place a large number of holds in order to determine future acquisitions and/or reallocation of resources. You can generate two different kinds of High-Demand Holds reports, System-Wide Thresholds Reports and Selected Pickup Location Reports. For more information about these report types, see High-Demand Holds Reports.

To generate a High-Demand Holds report:

  1. Choose High-Demand Holds from the Function list.
  2. Choose the type of report you want to view:
    • To generate a System-Wide Thresholds Report, choose System-Wide Thresholds.
    • To generate a Selected Pickup Location Report:
      1. Choose Selected Pickup Location.
      2. Use the Selected Pickup Location drop-down text box to choose the hold pickup location for which you want to view a report.
  3. Choose the Create Report button. The system applies the thresholds specified in the Hold Thresholds table to the holds you chose to run the report on. If a title meets or exceeds its threshold of title, volume, and/or item holds, it displays in the report.

When viewing a High-Demand Holds report, you can do the following:
    • View the bibliographic record for an entry in the report:
      1. Select the entry.
      2. Choose the View Bib button. The system displays the bibliographic record. If volume records are attached to the bibliographic record, the system lists the volume records as well.
    • Export the report currently displayed:
      1. Choose the Export button. The Export Table dialog box includes the following options:
        • Print to a file: Table entries are separated by spaces.
        • Save as comma separated values (csv) text: Table entries are separated by commas.
        • Save as tabbed text: Table entries are separated by tabs.

      2. Choose a folder and enter a file name in which to save the table. The system saves the table as a "File" type of file.
      3. To view the file, select a program with which to open the file.

    • Print the report currently displayed by choosing the Print button.
    • Generate another report by choosing the type of report you wish to view and selecting the Create Report button.
    • Clear the current table from view by choosing the Close button.
