Using Web Works Selection Lists

To access Web Works Selection Lists, you must be assigned permission 605 (Web Select). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

To use Web Works Selection Lists:

  1. Open a browser window and enter the URL in the address field for Web Works Selection Lists.
  2. Enter your login and password and choose OK. The system displays the Review File List page.
  3. Select the appropriate review file from the list. If you select a review file that does not contain any order records with a STATUS of '1', the system displays an error message.
Accounting Units in Web Works Selection Lists

The system displays the same error message if you select a review file containing order records from a different accounting unit, even though that review file might contain orders with a STATUS of '1'.

  4. When you select a valid review file, the system displays a list of titles for the orders in the selection list. To navigate through the list of titles, you can sort the list or search for a subset of titles within the list.
    Sorting
You can sort the list alphabetically by the content of any column by clicking the column header. If you click the same column header a second time, the list is sorted in reverse alphabetical order. Sierra uses the normalized index entry for sorting, so initial articles are skipped. For example, the title "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" would sort together with other titles beginning with the word "Complete".
    Searching
You can search the list for a specific search string and retrieve a subset of titles matching your search. The system searches the content of all columns that appear on the Titles Display. You also can search for a multiple word phrase; however, the system does not search for each word independently. For example, a search for Jungle Bob would not find "Bob in the Jungle".
Note that this search is available from both the Titles Display and the Selected Record Display. To return to the full list after performing a search, choose Another Search.
  5. Once you have located the desired title(s), you can do the following:

Tracking Expenditures

At any point during your session, you can choose the Session Total button to access monetary information for titles you have ordered within the current session. The system displays in a separate window the amount expended from each fund, as well as the session total. Choose Print to print this report.

Timing Out

After 30 minutes of inactivity, Web Works Selection Lists times out your session. When the system times out, the last page you visited is still displayed. If you attempt to resume your session by clicking on any buttons, the system displays the login prompts. After you log back in, the system returns you to the action you attempted to initiate. For example, if the system timed out on the Titles Display and you try to access a specific title, the system processes that action after you log back in, and then displays the Selected Record Display for that title.

Note that the Session Total report is cleared when the system times you out.
