Administering Display Settings

The settings menu for Display contains settings options that affect the brief record display of bibliographic records and display properties for icons and skins in the Sierra Desktop Application. The menu can contain the following options:

Options for Bib View

Show Book Jacket / Show Program Image
Specifies whether the book jacket image appears. In Program Registration, this option displays as Show Program Image under the Options for Program View section. It controls the display of program images in Program Registration.

Both Show Book Jacket and Show Program Image options use the same setting. Consequently, if you change one option, the other option is also changed to use the new setting.

If your system does not include WebBridge or PathFinder Pro, you must configure Web Links to enable this option. For more information, see Web Links Table.

Brief Display

Display equivalent 880 fields
For any field that is set up to display in the brief record display area for authority and bibliographic records, follow the subfield |6, if one exists, to the equivalent 880 field and display both fields.
Use larger fonts (does not affect patron record brief display)
When checked, this setting enables the Desktop Application to use larger fonts in the compact browse display of search results. This setting does not affect the display of patron record results.
To enable this setting:
  1. Check or uncheck the box for the option.
  2. Click Save Settings.
  3. Click OK.
The system displays the chosen fonts after you restart the Sierra Desktop Application.

Specifies the content of the Summary View when none of the attached records is of the selected type, such as when the summary type is item records and the bibliographic record has no attached item records. Check this option to display a summary list of "all records", otherwise an empty summary list appears.
Default to checkin card tab for checkin/holdings records
Specifies the Summary View content when you select checkin or holdings records in Record View Properties. Check this option to view the associated checkin cards. If no checkin card exists, the Card tab displays the Create Card option.

By default, the checkin or holdings record appears in the Summary View.
