Notices: Where to print Item Info

Use this option to specify (for item paging slips and overdue, recall, pickup, courtesy, and cancellation notices) the width and height of the item information block, the maximum number of items that can print on a notice, and the position of each item (an 8.5"x11" sheet can hold up to ten items). Note that item paging slips have a slightly different format than the other notices (see Item Paging Slips).

Positioning the Item Information

To specify the size and position for the item information block on a bill, fine notice, statement of charges, or printout of checked out items, see the Fines/Bills: Where to print Bill Info circulation option.

Most notices (excluding item paging slips) contain an "item information block" that holds up to seven lines of information. By default, notices contain the following pieces of information, one entry per line:

Each block has the same width and height. If you specify a height of fewer than six lines for the item block, information will be left off the notice starting at the bottom of the block (e.g., "Pickup Location" will be left off if the height is set to five lines, etc.).

Height Considerations

If your library enables the Notices: Print Recall Fine and/or Notices: Print HOLD NOTE on hold pickup notices circulation options, you must set the height of the item information block to seven lines. The system prints the recall fine or hold note on the seventh line.

If you plan to print information about more than one item on each notice, consider setting the height of the item information block to eight lines in order to provide a blank space between item information blocks.

The entry screen will look similar to the following:

Notices: Where to print Item Info

01 > Item 1 : COL: 2 LINE: 31
02 > Item 2 : COL: 38 LINE: 31
03 > Item 3 : COL: 2 LINE: 38
04 > Item 4 : COL: 38 LINE: 38
05 > Item 5 : COL: 2 LINE: 45
06 > Item 6 : COL: 38 LINE: 45

Circulation Options List

If the entry for the Notices: Where to print Item Info circulation option becomes too long to display in the circulation options list, the system displays: Choose to view.

Item Paging Slips

Item paging slips do not follow the same format as the other notices. On item paging slips, the system prints one item block per page and ignores the height element. The system includes the following data on item paging slips:

For example, the item information block on an item paging slip might appear as the following.

   AUTHOR: Sanders, William B.
   TITLE: The Apple Macintosh primer
   CALL NO: 001.64 San
   BARCODE: 31100012274665
   STATUS: CHECK SHELF
   LOCATION: North-Nonfiction
   PICKUP AT: Main Desk
NOTE: Please call me when this item arrives.
   OPACMSG: RENTAL

For more information on item paging slips, see Item Paging Slips.

Item and Title Page Lists

By default, the system prints one item paging slip for each paged item. However, if your library has the Item Page List feature enabled, you can generate a single list of paged items. In this case, the system prints multiple item blocks on each page.

Alternatively, if your library has the Title Page List feature or the Title Priority Paging feature, you can generate a list of all the titles that the system is attempting to page at your location.
