Check availability, place a hold, or access a resource

You can perform the following tasks:

  • Check availability
  • Place a hold
  • Access a resource
  • Change the pickup location of an item

And, depending on your library, you can borrow items by mail.

If the status of the item is And Do this
Available A Place Hold button appears
  1. Select Place Hold.
  2. Select a pickup location.
  3. If you want the library to mail the item to you, select Please mail this to me.

    4. This feature may not be available at your library.

  4. (Optional) Select I don't need this item after, and enter the date that you no longer need the resource.

    5. If the resource isn't fulfilled by the date you enter, the system removes the hold request.

  5. Select Confirm Location to confirm the request.

    6. A confirmation window opens.

    To check the status of the resource, go to the Holds tab on My Bookshelf.
No button appears
  1. Note the call number of the item.
  2. Find and check out the item at your library.
Checked Out You want to place a hold on the item
  1. Select Place Hold.
  2. Select a pickup location.
  3. If you want the library to mail the item to you, select Please mail this to me.

    4. This feature may not be available at your library.

  4. (Optional) Select I don't need this item after, and enter the date that you no longer need the resource.

    5. If the resource isn't fulfilled by the date you enter, the system removes the hold request.

  5. Select Confirm Location to confirm the request.

    6. A confirmation window opens.

    To check the status of the resource, go to the Holds tab on My Bookshelf.

Available from OverDrive or other online provider Access the item
  1. Select GET IT.
  2. Select from the available options.
  3. Follow the online instructions.
Ready to Borrow from OverDrive after you placed a hold
  1. Go to the Holds tab on My Bookshelf.
  2. Select GET IT.
  3. Select from the available options.
  4. Follow the online instructions.
Available from Hoopla
  1. Select GET IT.
  2. On the Confirmation window, select GET ITEM.
Check Availability –
  • Select Check Availability.

If only one edition is available, the system opens the provider webpage.

If more than one edition is available, the system opens the editions table. Select the edition that you want.
Checked Out Place a hold on the item
  1. Select Place Hold.

    2. The Resource page opens.

  2. Select Place Hold.

    3. A confirmation page opens.

  3. Select OK.
