Configure patron profile edits
You can specify which profile information you want to allow patrons to edit on My Bookshelf.
A question mark icon appears next to fields that patrons are not allowed to edit. You can specify a URL to your library contact information, and patrons can select the icon to follow the link.
Notification preference
You can enable patron notifications and let patrons select their notification preference.
Passcodes
You can allow patrons to update their passcode from their profile. You can also enter a passcode policy message to help patrons meet your library’s passcode requirements.
Borrow by mail
If your library uses the Polaris ILS, you can enable the borrow by mail feature. If enabled, patrons can request that items be mailed to them when they place holds.
Maximum fines and fees
You can also set a maximum amount of fines and fees. If patrons exceed that amount, they can view their profile, but they can't make changes.
Nicknames
Profiles on My Bookshelf include a Nickname field that is always available to patrons. If a patron enters a nickname, Vega uses it to personalize the name of My Bookshelf.
