Variable-length Fields in Institution Records

The following table describes the variable-length fields found in institution records. Both the short label and default long label (if one exists) are shown.

The information in this field is generated during print management activities on the Local Server. CHECKIN Data from each attached checkin or serial holding record at the contributing Local Server. This field has the following subfields:

$aThe checkin record number.
$cThe 5-character shelving location code (one for each location) in the checkin record.
$eThe call number in the checkin record. If no call number exists in the local checkin record, the system extracts the call number from the local bibliographic record.
$fThe summary holdings statement from the checkin record.
$gThe last issue received. This subfield is created when the Checkin field is created; however, the subfield is not subsequently updated, used, or displayed.
$hThe identity field in the checkin record.
$q!The 5-character agency code of the contributing site. This subfield is present only if the site belongs to a Local Server that operates under the INN-Reach Agency model.
$sThe suppression code. Possible values are:

'N'Do not suppress (local record's SCODE2 field, SCODE2 field, SCODE3 field, or SCODE4 field is coded CONTRIBUTE).

ITEM Data from an attached item record at the contributing Local Server. This field has the following subfields:

$aThe item record number.
$bThe item type in the item record..
$cThe 5-character shelving location code (one for each location) in the item record.
$eThe call number in the item record. If no call number exists in the item record, the system uses the call number in the local bibliographic record.
$nThe contents of the note field (i.e., the "x" field) in the item record.
$q!The 5-character agency code for the contributing site. This field subfield is present only if the site belongs to a Local Server that operates under the INN-Reach Agency model.
$vThe volume number in the item record.
$wThe copy number in the item record.

The circulation status code, including due date and holds if appropriate, in the following format:

  1. One- to three-character local item STATUS code followed by the delimiter 'Q'.
  2. Two bytes indicating the number of holds.
  3. Six bytes in network date format (yymmdd) indicating due date.

ORDER Data from an attached order record at the contributing Local Server. This field has the following subfields:

$aThe order record number.
$bThe Acquisitions Type Code (ACQ TYPE) in the order record.
$cThe 5-character shelving location code (one for each location) in the order record.
$fThe order status from the order record. Possible values are:

CANCELLED
# copies in process
# copies ordered on mm-dd-yy
NOTE

The status message "x copies ordered on mm-dd-yy" is stored in the INN-Reach Central Server order field unless there is a received date in the RDATE field of the local order record. If there is a received date in the RDATE field of the local order record, the message "x copies in process" is stored instead.

The 'z' (cancelled) status in a local order record does not affect what is stored on the INN-Reach Central Server. Cancelled order records will display as "ordered" or "in process" based on the RDATE value unless they are suppressed from display on the INN-Reach Central Server.

$sThe suppression code. Possible values are:

RECORD The bibliographic record number at the contributing Local Server. The data in this field is identical to subfield $b in the 945 field in the master bibliographic record). r or 998 system N/A r998 b2002260
URL Data from a URL field in the local bibliographic record. Note that the system stores these fields only if the INN-Reach Central Server profile is configured to store URLs from the local bibliographic record in the institution record.

The field is typically assigned the MARC tag 856. However, INN-Reach Systems that have acquired the "INN-Reach URLs for Locally Held Resources" product can store URL data in fields with a MARC tag other than 856. For more information, see Storing URL Fields in the INN-Reach Catalog.

A URL field in the institution record includes, at a minimum, the following subfields:
