Using Quick Search to Find Materials
Quick Search is a keyword search in the catalog for a term you type.
To search for materials by typing a search term:
- Tap Find on the Home screen, or tap Quick Search on the Navigation menu. The Find screen appears.
- Tap the Keyword search field. The keyboard appears.
- Type your search term, and tap Search. The app displays your search results or a message if no results are found.

Publisher and publication date in quick search results require Sierra 3.4 and later.
If your results list is long, you can swipe up to see more entries.
- To filter your search results by material type, tap All formats and tap a format in the list to filter the results by that format type. Quick search results do not include events.
- Swipe left on the arrow icon next to each title to see a function link appropriate for the title. For example, you can place a hold or check out an eBook. See Placing a Hold or Checking Out eBooks and eAudiobooks.
- To launch another search from the results list, tap the Keyword search field . The keyboard appears. You can type additional text to add to your previous search term in the search field, or you can tap X to remove your previous search term and type another one.
- Tap a title to view more information about that title. The Title Description screen appears, displaying additional title information and a list of the copies in the library system. You can use the links at the bottom of the screen to place a hold, check out an eBook or eAudiobook, or read a sample of an OverDrive title, as appropriate.
