Accessing Your Patron Account

From your patron account in the MyLibrary! app, you can view and renew checked out items, work with your hold requests, see a list of fines and fees you might owe, and view and edit information for your library account. Your patron account also provides a scannable image of your library card barcode if your library has enabled this feature.

To access your patron account:

  1. Sign in using the Navigation menu, and tap My Account. Alternatively, you can tap My Account on the Home screen and sign in. For more information, see Signing In. The My Account screen appears.
  2. Tap one of the following options on the My Account screen:

Viewing and Renewing Checked Out Items

To view and renew checked out items:

  1. Tap Checked Out on the My Account screen. The Checked Out screen appears and displays the list of items you have checked out with their due dates.
  2. Tap renew to renew an item. If the renewal is successful, a message displays the new due date. If the item cannot be renewed (for example, it is too soon to renew it or another patron has placed a hold on it), the system displays a message.

Checking In eBook or eAudiobook Titles

EBooks and eAudiobooks are automatically checked in when they are due. If you want to return a title before the due date, you can check in eligible OverDrive and cloudLibrary eBook or eAudiobook titles from the My Account screen. To check in eBook or eAudiobook titles:

  1. Tap Checked Out on the My Account screen. The Checked Out screen appears and displays the eBooks and eAudiobooks you have checked out with their corresponding due dates.

  2. Tap return to check in a title. The app displays a message if the OverDrive or cloudLibrarycheck-in is successful. If check-in is not successful, you might be able to check it in through the OverDrive or cloudLibraryapp or website.

Viewing and Changing Hold Requests

To view and change your hold requests:

  1. Tap Holds on the My Account screen. The Holds screen appears and displays the list of your hold requests with their status, queue position, and pickup location.
  2. Tap modify to change a hold request. A message displays options for the hold request:
  • Tap Change Location to change the pickup location, and select the new location.
  • Tap Freeze Hold to suspend the request or Unfreeze to activate a suspended request.
  • Tap Cancel to cancel the hold request.

Viewing Fines and Fees

To view fines and fees charged to your account, tap Owed on the My Account screen. The Owed screen appears and displays the fines and fees on your account.

Viewing Account Information

To view your account information, tap My Profile on the My Account screen. The My Profile screen appears and displays your name, card number (barcode), account expiration date, and email address.

Displaying Your Patron Barcode

If your library has enabled this feature, you can display your patron barcode for convenient scanning by a library barcode scanner or selfcheck machine. To display your scannable library barcode:

  1. Tap My Profile on the My Account screen.
  2. Tap show card. The system displays the barcode image.
  3. Scan the image at the library circulation desk or selfcheck machine.
The app increases the image brightness automatically. If you have trouble getting the barcode to scan, try increasing the brightness further in your device settings.

Changing Your Password

You can change your password in the MyLibrary! app if your library offers this feature. Your library determines the minimum length of your password and what characters (numbers only, or both numbers and letters) are allowed. The password cannot contain consecutive repeated characters (for example, aaaa or ababab). To change your password:

  1. Tap My Profile on the My Account screen.
  2. Tap change next to “Password”. The system displays the Change Password screen.
  3. Tap the Current Password field and type your current password. You can tap show to display the password characters or hide to hide them from display.
  4. Tap the New Password field and type your new password. You can tap hide to hide the password characters or show to display the characters.
  5. Tap the Retype New Password field and type your new password again.
  6. Tap Change. The system displays a “Password Changed!” message.

Updating Your Email Address

You can change your email address in the MyLibrary! app if your library offers this feature. To change your email address:

  1. Tap My Profile on the My Account screen.
  2. Tap change next to your email address.
  3. Type your new email address and tap Submit. The system displays an “Email address successfully changed” message.
