Clearing and Resetting Permissions During Sessions
If your user account does not have the permissions you require, you can either:
- enter another username and password every time you perform a task requiring it
- clear and reset the user account's permissions for the session
Returning to Default Function
In some functions, clearing your permissions returns you to your default function. Re-enter your username and password for the default function if prompted.
Multiple Accounting/Serials Units
If your library has multiple accounting/serials units, you cannot change the accounting/serials unit during a session. For example, if you start a session with a user account that correspond to accounting/serials unit '1,' the accounting/serials unit will remain '1' until you restart Sierra with a different user account. You can view the current accounting/serials unit by choosing Help | About.
Viewing the Current User Account
You can view the user account you have used by choosing Help | About.
Clearing Permissions
To clear the user account's permissions for the session, choose Admin | Clear Permissions. The permissions are cleared. Note that this does not log you out.
In some functions, you do not have to clear the current user account's permissions before resetting them. That is, the Set Permissions Admin menu option is always available.
Setting Permissions
To set permissions:
- Choose Admin | Set Permissions. You are prompted to enter a username and password.
- Enter a username and password.
- Choose OK.
