Automatically Cutting Receipts after Printing

The Receipt Auto Cut feature enables the system to automatically cut receipt paper after the system has finished printing a receipt. Because of differences in printer codes, the Receipt Auto Cut feature functions only on receipt printers that use the local printer for which the feature is enabled.

Enabling the Receipt Auto Cut Feature

To enable the Receipt Auto Cut feature:

  1. Contact Innovative and provide the following information:
    • the make and model of the local printer you are using as a receipt printer.
    • if available, the hexadecimal "auto-cut" code (e.g., 1D5600) listed in your printer's manual.

After Innovative has enabled the Receipt Auto Cut feature, the Format tab of the Local Printer Settings (Receipt Printer) dialog box displays a Send auto-cut checkbox in the Text Printing pane.

  1. Choose File | Select Printer | Receipt Printer. In the Select Receipt Printer dialog box, choose Local Printer, and then choose OK. The system displays the Local Printer Settings (Receipt Printer) dialog box.
  2. In the Format tab of the Local Printer Settings (Receipt Printer) dialog box, select either the Text or Text (narrow) option in the Format pane. The system activates the Send auto-cut checkbox in the Text Printing pane.
  3. To enable automatic paper cutting for your local receipt printer, select the Send auto-cut checkbox.

Cutting Receipt Paper with Receipt Auto Cut

Depending on your printing task (e.g., check-out v. check-in) and on the setting of the Check-out: Print date due slips circulation option, either the system cuts receipt paper immediately after a receipt prints, or you first must indicate that printing is complete by ending the current session (e.g., closing the patron record in Sierra).
