Reacquiring ILL Requests through BLDSS
To reacquire requested ILL item(s) through BLDSS:
- Select Pending Requests from the Function list.
- Select the request(s) that you want to acquire, and click Req-Again on the toolbar.
- On the Operation Wizard dialog, select BLDSS ILL from the dropdown list.
- Enter your customer code and password. This is the same customer code and password used for the ARTEmail document delivery system. Once you have specified this information for a request, ILL retains it for subsequent requests in the current session.
- Click Next.
- (Optional) Select a follow-up date using the calendar. The follow-up date is the date on which your library should contact BLDSS if the requested item was ordered, but has not arrived.
- Click Finish.
ILL sends the request information (for example, title, author, ISBN) to the British Library, which searches its database for matches. ILL displays the results in the Operation Status Manager dialog, as follows.
- If a match is found, ILL displays the message "BLDSS request file was successfully created", moves the request to the pending requests file, and lists the supplier as "BLDSS". The system also adds the request to the BLDSS Requests table and marks it with a status of "Matched".
- If no match is found, ILL displays the message "The British Library could not find a match for the item requested" and keeps the request in the new requests file. You can cancel the request or acquire the item using a different method.
- Review the results, and select Close to close the Operation Status Manager dialog.
- Select BLDSS Requests from the Function list.
- Select the matched request you want to order in the table, and click Order on the toolbar.
ILL processes your request. If the request is successful, the system displays an order confirmation message and changes the status of the request to "Order successfully submitted". If the request cannot be processed, ILL displays an error message.
- Click OK to close the order confirmation dialog.
