Setting Loan Rules for ILL
Innovative recommends that you establish unique loan rules for ILL items when setting up ILL. As you define loan rule parameters, keep in mind the following special considerations for ILL items:
- ILL items should not be renewable. When an ILL item is renewed, the system ignores the need to return by date (NTRB) that the supplier specified for the item. To avoid this conflict, you must configure each ILL loan rule's renewal variables to block renewals.
- ILL items must be holdable. You must set the Holdable element of your ILL loan rules to Y.
- ILL items cannot be recalled. Regardless of the values in the loan rule's recall variables, the system does not enable you to recall an ILL item.
