Checking In ILL Items

You can only check in an ILL item if it is returnable. For more information, see Receiving an ILL Item.

If you attempt to check in an ILL item in (either using the Check-In (No Patron) function, or the Circulation Desk function in ILL or Circulation, depending on your library's assigned workflows), Sierra informs you that the item belongs to the ILL department. For example:

Item belongs to ILL department.

In response to this message:

  1. Choose CHECK-IN. The system displays the following prompt:

    Print transit slip?

  2. Continue as appropriate:
    • Choose Yes to print a transit slip.
    • Choose No to continue without printing a slip.
    The system checks in the item, updating the status of the virtual item record.
  3. Return the ILL item.
