Restarting a Session or Process
You may need to restart a session if:
- you change a system option on the server. You must restart each PC's session to update its options.
- a session on a PC becomes non-responsive. Note the records where you stopped your work so that you can recover any lost data afterwards, then try the following on the PC:
- If there is an hourglass cursor on the screen, the system is waiting for some action to complete. If this cursor stays for a few minutes, try the next steps. Otherwise, a slow server connection or too many users may be slowing down the system.
- If the hourglass cursor has been displayed too long, or there is no hourglass cursor, use Alt+Tab to see whether you can switch from the session to the Java window or any other open applications. If you can look at the DOS Java window, search for words like "error" or "exception" and report those to Innovative.
- If you cannot switch to another window, bring up the Windows Task Manager. Press and hold Ctrl+Alt+Del. See if the function has a status of "not responding." If so, try to close it from the Task Manager. If the Task Manager does not show a special status for the session, go back and try to select a different function.
- If Ctrl+Alt+Del does not bring up the Task Manager and you cannot use Alt+Tab to switch between the session and other applications, that usually means the hardware system is hung and you will need to reboot the computer. This is very unlikely and you should report all such occurrences to Innovative for immediate action.
Restarting a Process
In the event that the server hangs, use the Restart a terminal option from Admin Corner to restart the process. These processes correspond to the programs that run on the Innovative server for each product. Note that it is very unlikely that you will ever need to restart a process; you should report all such occurrences to Innovative.
