Duplicate Authority Headings Reports
The Duplicate Authority Headings report shows authority record entries that match the valid form (MARC tag 1XX or UNIMARC tag 2xx) of an existing authority record.
Sometimes a duplicate authority heading is due to a newer version of a record that was loaded without overlaying the earlier version. In this case, you can decide which of the two records to delete. Sometimes the "duplicates" in the report are not actual duplicates. This can be the case with Name-Title authority records, which can contain subfields beyond |t. The Duplicate Authority Headings report does not check for additional subfields. For example, the following two fields from two different authority records are considered duplicates:
100 10 Austen, Jane,|d1775-1817.|tCorrespondence
100 10 Austen, Jane,|d1775-1817.|tCorrespondence.|kSelections
