Hyperlinks with Dynamic Content from the OpenURL
To use dynamic content from an OpenURL in a hyperlink, you must:
- Determine the dynamic content to include in the hyperlink.
- Construct the hyperlink with field selectors representing the dynamic content.
- Enter the hyperlink in the Link Display text box in the Resolution Server Linking section of the appropriate resource definition.
For example, to create a hyperlink that takes the ATITLE meta tag from an OpenURL and incorporates it into a hyperlink, enter:
Get full text of <em>#@ATITLE#</em> at #LinkText#
In this example, if a user at an external origin requests resources, and an appropriate resource is an article that your library offers through ProQuest, the system:
- replaces #@ATITLE# with the content of the OpenURL field ATITLE
- replaces #LinkText# with "ProQuest"
- displays the hyperlink to the user at the external origin
The hyperlink displayed to the user might read, for example:
