Sierra Scheduler Email Notification

Sierra Scheduler sends an email message to a specified list of recipients whenever a job starts, succeeds, fails, or ends. The recipient list is edited with the Email Addresses option in the Scheduler Admin App menu.

At each stage in the job run, Sierra Scheduler sends two email messages:

Setting the Email Sender

Sierra Scheduler's email sender (the "From:" line of email) is the same for all recipients (job creators and administrators). Scheduler's default sender is "iiiguy".

To customize the name and email address of the sender:

  1. Click Scheduler from the OTHER WEB APPLICATIONS section of the Admin App menu.
  2. Click Email Addresses from the Scheduler Admin App menu. The available task types display along with all tasks that have been created from those task types.
  3. Click Name or Email, and enter the name and email address for the sender of Sierra Scheduler email.
  4. Click OK to save or CANCEL to exit without saving your changes.

Setting the Job Administrators' Email Address

The Sierra Scheduler administrators (usually those assigned permissions for Job Scheduler) receive email notification when a job fails.

To set the name and email address of the administrators:

  1. Click Scheduler from the OTHER WEB APPLICATIONS section of the Admin App menu.
  2. Click Email Addresses from the Scheduler Admin App menu. The available task types display along with all tasks that have been created from those task types.
  3. Click ADD, and enter the administrator's name and email address.
  4. Click OK to save or CANCEL to exit without saving your changes.

Setting the Email Subject Line and Message

The recipient specified in Task Builder's Create Task or Edit Task dialog (usually the job's creator) receives email notification when a job starts, ends, succeeds, or fails.

To customize the subject line and message body of these email messages:

  1. Click Scheduler from the OTHER WEB APPLICATIONS section of the Admin App menu.
  2. Click Email Messages from the Scheduler Admin App menu. The available task types display.
  3. Click the task type you want to edit. A new tab opens with a list of the task's current parameters.
  4. Click the event you want to edit.
  5. Enter the Subject and Message for the event.
  6. Click OK to save or CANCEL to exit without saving your changes.

Sierra Scheduler adds the task name to the end of the subject line when it sends emails.
