Barcode Overlay and Patron Self-Registration

The Patron Self-Registration product does not support the Patron self-identification barcode overlay OPAC option. If you use Patron Self-Registration you must disable the Patron self-identification barcode overlay OPAC option.

This option allows your organization to set a barcode overlay, enabling patrons to enter either an entire barcode or an abbreviated, unique portion of the patron barcode for validation purposes. This option accepts any alphanumeric characters as a value but the value must match the format of your organization's barcode format. For example:

Patron self-identification barcode overlay
Current Pattern:

Input new pattern: 2 1293 00000 0000____________________________________

Using the above setting, a patron with a barcode value of 2 1293 70169 6639 can enter just the 70169 6639 portion of the barcode at the appropriate prompt. The system automatically prepends 2 1293 to the entered value for a value of 2 1293 70169 6639.

You can use any alphanumeric character to represent the unique portion of the patron barcode, but you must use this character to represent all of the unique portion (e.g., 2 1293 00000 0000 or 2 1293 aaaaa aaaa).

Spaces

Settings can include spaces for readability. WebPAC ignores spaces when validating barcode entries.
