Browse list: maximum number of entries that can be sorted by year
This option allows users to sort the browse list based on publication date, with the most recent titles at the top of the list. The Browse list option also specifies the maximum number of entries sorted by WebPAC, up to 9,999 entries.
This menu offers the following options:
SYSTEM OPTIONS (OPAC options) Browse list: maximum number of entries that can be sorted by year Current Value: 5000 1 > Do not allow sorting by year 2 > Select maximum number of entries for which sorting by year is allowed (2-9999) 3 > Return to OPAC menu Choose one: (1-3) _
1 > Do not allow sorting by year -- turns off the sort by year functionality. The system sets the Current Value to '0', and does not offer the option to sort by year.
2 > Select maximum number of entries -- sets the maximum number of entries in a retrieved set of records that can be sorted by year.
The system uses as the sort date the last 4-digit number in:
- MARC 21 260 field, subfield c
- MARC 21 261 field, subfield d
- MARC 21 262 field, subfield c
If these fields are not present, the system uses the last 4-digit number in the first field associated with field group tag pas the sort date. Entries for which WebPAC cannot find a year (e.g, analytics which store the date in the MARC 773 field) are sorted by title and displayed at the bottom of the list, after the oldest dated entries.
