Select preferred locations

You can select preferred locations for consortium collection sites. Preferred locations appear after a patron's home location in search results and on the Resource page.

You can also limit the content in search results and the Resource page so that only materials that belong to your preferred locations appear. You can select up to six preferred locations to appear in the initial location list.

If you don't limit the content of preferred locations, then search results include content from the entire consortium. When search results include items that belong to a selected, preferred location, the location and call number of an available copy appear.

Selections that you make on the Limit Content page override selections you make on the Locations page.

Important

The list of available locations includes the locations that are assigned to the hierarchy level selected under Show as item location for the consortium. If you change the setting, you also remove the site's preferred locations. For more information, see Define the location hierarchy.

To select preferred locations

  1. In the upper-right corner, select Settings Settings icon..
  2. From the Settings menu, select Library defaults.
  3. Select Site Configuration.
  4. On the Sites page, from the Actions column, select Options The Options icon. for the site you want to configure.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. From the menu, select Locations.
  7. (Optional) If you selected a kiosk to edit, and you want to change the branch level, under Select Kiosk Branch Level, select one of the following:
    • Consortium
    • Library Branch
    • Collection

    Important

    • If you change the branch level, you clear the setting to limit the consortia collection site to only the preferred locations.
  8. If you want to search for available locations, enter search criteria in the search box.
  9. Select the preferred locations.

    10. To remove a location from the list of preferred locations, clear the star icon.

  10. If you want to limit the content that appears on your collection site to materials that belong to your preferred locations, select Limit the consortia collection site to only the selected preferred locations.
