The SierraDNA provides documentation of all views and their constituent columns. In addition to view and column descriptions, it includes an entity relationship diagram (ERD) for each view group.
In the SierraDNA, each record type, such as bib, item, program, and so forth, is a view group. Transaction data includes acquisitions and circulation view groups. Master data includes a variety of information such as categorization, location, and system configuration view groups.
You can search the SierraDNA to find documentation for any view group, view, or column. Enter the term you want to find in the Search Views text box. Valid search terms include group names, view names, column names, or any word found in the descriptive comments.
You can limit the documentation components that the SierraDNA searches to find your term by selecting or deselecting check boxes found in the change drop-down list found beside the Search Views text box. Choose change to view the options, which include:
Name - view name
Comment - view description
Group Name - group name
Group Description - group description (currently not in use)
Column Name - column name
Column Comment - column description
The text beside the Search Views text box indicates which documentation components are selected for searching. The default is All fields.
