ERM Decile Analysis Detail Reports

The Decile Analysis detail report in ERM displays a decile analysis of usage for a resource or subject.

Decile analysis can help you adjust your library's electronic holdings to patrons' needs. A decile analysis is a statistical tool often used for market segmentation. In this case, the "market" consists of library patrons accessing titles in resources (usage). Decile analysis segments titles into ten different groups based on their usage.

Decile analysis assumes a normal distribution. Often usage does not show a normal distribution. Therefore, attempts to divide titles into ten groups can result in some groups having identical usage. As a result, not all Decile Analysis detail reports contain ten equal groups of titles. This occurs because usage does not have a normal distribution.

For information on creating this report, see Creating Detail Reports in ERM.

NOTE

Innovative does not provide support or training on decile analysis as a statistical tool.
