Adding RDA Contextual Linking to Bibliographic Records

For access to full RDA Contextual Linking functionality, your library needs a subscription to the RDA Toolkit.

The Sierra Record Editor provides contextual linking into the RDA Toolkit from within bibliographic records via the RDA Toolkit's MARC Linking Service.

To create a contextual link within an RDA field:

  1. Retrieve a MARC record and choose Edit.
  2. Position your cursor anywhere in the field you want to add contextual linking to.
  3. Either right-click in the field, or go to Tools | RDA Toolkit.
    • If your cursor is in an RDA field that is supported by the toolkit, the system contextually links the field to the appropriate page in the RDA Toolkit
    • If your cursor is not in an RDA field, the system links the field to the RDA Toolkit main page: http://access.rdatoolkit.org
Note: WebPAC and Encore do not expose the RDA Toolkit in any capacity.
