Possible Messages (Adding Bibliographic and Item Records to a Course)

This section describes some of the messages you might see when you try to add bibliographic and item records to a Course Reserve List.

Bib <number> does not have any items attached to it.

The bibliographic record you are trying to add to the Course Reserve List does not have any attached items. You cannot add the bibliographic record to the Course Reserve List.

Bib <number> is also on reserve for other courses.

The bibliographic record you are trying to add to the Course Reserve List is already on reserve for other course(s). The system adds the bibliographic record to the course but does not change the LOCATION and I TYPE values of its attached item records.

Item <number> has a hold on it.

The item that you are trying to add to the Course Reserve List is on hold and the Reserves: Allow hold cancel in reserve list maintenance Circulation Option is not enabled. You cannot add this item to the Course Reserve List.

Item <number> has a hold on it. Cannot place it on reserve unless hold is cancelled. Cancel hold?

The item that you are trying to add to the Course Reserve List is on hold and the Reserves: Allow hold cancel in reserve list maintenance Circulation Option is enabled. To add the item to the Course Reserve List, cancel the hold.

Item <number> has been checked out.

The item that you are trying to add to the Course Reserve List is checked out and the Recalls: Course reserves patron type for recalls Circulation Option is not set to a valid P TYPE. You cannot recall the item to add it to the Course Reserve List.

Recall item <number>?

The item that you are trying to add to the Course Reserve List is checked out and the Recalls: Course reserves patron type for recalls Circulation Option is set to a valid P TYPE. To add the item to the Course Reserve List, recall the item.

Record type <number> is already on reserve for this course.

The bibliographic or item record that you are trying to add is already on the Course Reserve List.

Record type <record type> is not valid for this search.

You cannot search for the record type that you entered.
