Set netLibrary code

eBooks are considered a material type (like CD-ROMs or microfilm), and netLibrary eBooks can be assigned their own one-character code in the MAT TYPE fixed-length field in bibliographic records. The system can limit a search to netLibrary eBooks by selecting only bibliographic records that have the netLibrary code in the MAT TYPE fixed-length field. The default code for netLibrary eBooks is 'z'. This option enables you to change the character used for the netLibrary code.

Advanced Word Searches

The '@' MAT TYPE code is not compatible with Advanced Word Searches.

It is possible to define a netLibrary code for a search limit other than the default MAT TYPE. The search limit to be used for netLibrary items must be a bibliographic record-level limit, as netLibrary bibliographic records do not have attached records (such as item, order, or checkin records). Contact Innovative if you want to use a search limit other than MAT TYPE for retrieving netLibrary items.

When you select this option, the system prompts you to enter a code value:

Set netLibrary code
This will define a material type for netLibrary books
Current Value: z

Enter a one-letter value for netLibrary eBooks.
This will replace the current value as a valid fixed-length
field value for Material Type, or <RETURN> for none: z

Enter a one-character code. The system then prompts you for a label to display for this material type when the user is limiting the results of a search:

Enter a label for netLibrary eBooks
Label: EBOOKS_______

Accept the presented label by pressing Enter or type a new label and then press Enter.
