"Create Lists" searches: Pause every <n> records

On some systems, Create Lists searches that access a large range of records (e.g., the entire database) can use a large amount of system resources, causing the system response time to slow down for other users. Use this option to specify that Create Lists searches pause for one second periodically, allowing the system to process other users' requests. The library determines the frequency of these pauses by specifying the number of records after which a search pauses.

When you select "Create Lists" searches: Pause every <n> records, the system displays a screen similar to the following:

"Create Lists" searches: Pause every <n> records
Current Value: NOT SET

When creating a boolean review file in the "Create Lists"
function, a boolean search will pause for one second after
searching the number of records specified above; this can help
reduce the impact of such searches on other system processes.

The number which optimizes the speed of boolean searches, while
minimizing the impact of such searches on other system users,
will vary from system to system. You may wish to experiment to
determine the optimal setting for your system.

Have boolean search stop for 1 second after searching:

        1 > _____ records
2 > Do not reduce speed of "Create Lists"
3 > Return to previous menu

Choose one: (1-3) _

1 > _____ records

Select 1 to enter the number of records for which the Create Lists function pauses when conducting a Boolean search. When you select this option, Sierra prompts:

Pause 1 second after searching <n> records: 250__

2 > Do not reduce speed of "Create Lists"

Select 2 to specify that Create Lists searches not pause. This is the default behavior of such searches.

3 > Return to previous menu

Select 3 to return to the list of Database Maintenance options.
