New Bib Record: Duplicate check on fields

Specify the field group tag of the indexed fields that you want Sierra to check for duplicate records when a new record is entered. Enter a list of one-letter Innovative field group tags for the bibliographic record (option 5) and/or the item record (option 6). For bibliographic records, enter 'k' to have the system check the title duplication key, which is constructed from the title or series name. Valid values are:

Bibliographic records: o Bibliographic utility number
  i ISBN/ISSN
k "Title duplication key" (library must have acquisitions installed)

Item records: b Barcode
  c Call Number

Using field group tags other than those in the table above can prevent subsequent local edits to this option. If this option displays the value Call Innov., contact Innovative to make the changes you need.

Item Records

For item records, the inclusion of an index tag in this option governs the appearance of the Perform duplicate checking on this field? prompt. For example, if you specify tag 'b' (barcode) for item records in this option and you add a barcode to an existing record, the system prompts you to duplicate check the barcode. The prompt appears even if automatic duplicate checking is set for item records with the New Records: Always check for duplication for record types option.
