Define batch label queues

This option specifies the fixed-length field and values that Sierra uses when assigning an item record to a label queue. When you select Define batch label queues, the system displays the current values associated with each label queue, and the fields you can use to define new label queues.

In the example above, the Current Value line indicates that the MAT TYPE field in an item's associated bibliographic record determines the label queue to which the item is assigned: MAT TYPEs '-', 'i' and 'j' are written to first queue, MAT TYPEs 'a' and 'b' are associated with the second queue, etc. The example also includes a list of the one-character item or bibliographic fixed-length fields (e.g., STATUS, MAT TYPE) that you can use to define label queues.

To define label queues, select a fixed-length field by entering its line number. If the selected field is currently used to define label queues, Sierra displays the field values associated with each queue.

 Select a queue, or
 P > PRINT
R > RETURN to previous menu
 Choose one (1-10,P,R)

Enter the line number of a queue to modify the values associated with it. Sierra displays a list of all the possible fixed-length values and prompts you to enter the values to be associated with the selected queue:

Enter Codes for Queue 2
ab_______________________

Enter the values you want to associate with the queue. When you finish entering values, press Enter. Sierra warns you if you entered a value already associated with another queue.

No Retroactive Application

Redefining the fixed-length field or values for label queues will not affect the list of item records already in a queue. Sierra does not retroactively modify a label queue's contents after you modify the values associated with the queue.
