Exporting Holdings Information

The Z39.50 server exports holdings information when it receives requests in the following formats:

OPAC

For requests in the OPAC (OID 1.2.840.10003.5.102) format, the Z39.50 server exports bibliographic records with the item holdings information in the 920 field of the output MARC record. (If the Z39.50 client specifies the value BRIEF for the element set, the Z39.50 server returns holdings information from the bibliographic record only.) One 920 field appears in the output record for each item record or holdings record attached to the main bibliographic record. The holdings information appears in subfields |a, |b, |c, and, at INN-Reach sites only, subfield |d of the 920 field.

SUTRS

For requests in the SUTRS (OID 1.2.840.10003.5.101) format, the Z39.50 server exports bibliographic records with the item holdings information in the 500 field of the output MARC record. One 500 field appears in the output record for each item record or holdings record attached to the main bibliographic record. The holdings information appears as a string in the field (i.e., no subfields are used).

The holdings information differs between standard and INN-Reach sites:

INN-Reach Sites
