Server Workform
The Server workform contains connection and database information about the Polaris SQL, search, and Web servers, as well as any remote servers available for Polaris searches. Use the Server workform to add a network server or remote server to Polaris, and to edit connection and database information. See Setting Up Server Records.
- Network Name - For a Polaris server, type the network name, or click Browse to find and select the server on the network. For a remote target server, type the system name of the remote server.
Important:
The network name for a remote server cannot contain the single quote character (apostrophe). The character causes connection problems in PAC searches. For example, use Bowkers Books in Print instead of Bowker’s Books in Print.
- Display Name - Your entry in the Display name field is displayed as a selection on the Administrator Explorer and Polaris Find Tool for server searches.
- Resource Group - Select the resource group that should have access to this database or resource, or select None if you want every organization to have access (no resource group restriction).
- Note - Optional. Enter a note regarding this server record.
- Define the connections for this server - Select View, Connections, or click
. See Registering Polaris Servers and Registering Remote Resource Servers. - Add a connection - Click

For remote servers, see Set up a server record for a Z39.50 or other search server. - Edit connection information - Select the item in the Connections list, and click
. - Specify the search databases available on this server - Select View, Databases, or click
. - Add a database - Click
above the Databases list. The New Database dialog box appears. If you are adding a database to a Polaris server, see Specify Polaris server databases.
