General Information Fixed Fields

The 008 Fixed-Length Data Elements–General Information field in bibliographic records can be defined with dialog boxes for each type of material. You access the 008 data elements dialog boxes by entering a 008 tag in the record or double-clicking the existing 008 tag. The dialog box that appears depends on the values in the LDR/06 and LDR/07 positions. Refer to Add 006 and 007 fixed fields for instructions to add a 008 field to a MARC record. Refer to “008 Fixed-Length Data Elements–General Information” in MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data for additional information on the descriptions and codes used in the fixed field dialog boxes.
