Delete a Record

To delete a record from the Polaris database:

Important:
For records other than bibliographic, item, or authority records, deleting records permanently removes the record from the Polaris database, and the record cannot be recovered. Your Polaris administrator specifies whether item records, bibliographic records, and authority records are retained even though they are marked for deletion. A purge process, with separate permissions, permanently deletes these records when marked for deletion.

  1. Use the Polaris Find Tool to locate and display a record in its workform. See Doing a Basic Search.

Tip:
You can delete a record directly from the Polaris Find Tool. Right-click the record, and select Delete from the context menu.

  1. Select File > Delete.

The message, Are you sure you want to permanently delete [record type]? appears.

  1. Click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the record.
