Hold Options Dialog Box - Requests Tab
Settings on this tab control hold requests from PAC applications, including title-level, item-level, and first available copy requests Hold requests for specific issues of a serial title (such as the May 2015 issue of Horticulture Magazine ) or specific parts of a multi-part title (such as the first season of a television series on DVD)., and block holds on items with specified circulation statuses. - Enable title-level hold requests from PowerPAC and Mobile PAC - Select the check box, and select the default pickup library.
Note:
A patron can select a different pickup location when placing a request. If you select None as the default, the patron must choose a pickup library when placing the request. See Set Holds options: Pickup library options.
- Enable one-click requests in PowerPAC - If title-level hold requests are enabled, you can also check this box to enable one-click hold requests from PowerPAC. When this box is checked, the One Click Request button appears for patrons who are logged into PowerPAC.
- Manage item requests - Under this heading are options.to set your policies for item-level requests on monographic materials, specific issues of serial titles, and specific parts of multi-part titles:
- Do not allow item requests from PAC - When this option is selected, the item-level request icon never appears in PAC search results. Patrons cannot place any monographic item-level, serial copy, or part-level requests.
- Allow item requests from PAC (default) - When this option is selected, the item-level request icon appears in PAC search results for all item records that have not been restricted from filling holds.
- Limit item requests to first available copy - Select this option to allow requests on specific issues of serial titles, specific parts of multi-part sets, or both, but not on other item-level requests.
- Allow requests on serials in PAC and Staff Client - Select this option allow item-specific requests on an issue of a serial or standing order An order placed with a vendor or the publisher directly for all publications in a series, all volumes in a set, or all publications of a single publisher. part (such as an issue of Time Magazine or a volume of Fodors) and prevent title-level requests on these same titles (preventing patrons from accidentally requesting any issue of Time). - Allow requests on multi-part sets in PAC and Staff Client - Select this option to allow patrons to request the first available copy of a multi-part set, such as Season One of a TV series or any one of several copies of Volume One in a set. See First Available Copy Requests and Multi-Part Titles.
- Both - Allow requests on both serials and multi-part sets.
Note:
If you have enabled title-level requests in the PAC, the title-level Request option is displayed. If your settings prevent any item-specific hold requests, patrons can only place hold request at the title level. If item-level requests are permitted, the system will direct the patron to place a request at the item level if appropriate.
- Prevent items from filling hold requests by circ status - Under this heading, select the item circulation statuses that should prevent an item from filling a hold request. These settings apply to both staff client and PAC hold requests.
When you are finished selecting the holds options, click Apply.
